My Dublo 'Bristol Castle' and my Stanier 8F heavy freight working together on my layout. Both locomotives are the earlier non ring-field motor version, now that the more powerful magnets are available this, in my view, works perfectly adequately. You can see photos of my Hornby-Dublo trains on

One of the sounds of Oxford is the bells of Magdalen, Merton, and Christchurch Colleges chiming across Christchurch Meadow. I have captured this on my Fuji, it's a bit difficult as you don't get to do a dry run! There is some wind blow unfortunately.
This is a triple expansion engine that pumped London's water for over 50 years (and is still in excellent working order!) It's run once a month at the Kempton works where you can see (and hear) it in operation.
This is a view of the valve gear that controls the engine's operation. The various levers control the admission of steam, its path through the engine, and the opening of the condenser valve.
Sorry about the wobbly bit, there was a crowd and people were squeezing past!
The preserved 'Kempton Great Engine' that provided London's water for 57 years. It's preserved in its original building (now a museum) and runs once a month under steam
Cylinders of the 'Prince Consort' engine at the Crossness site. These engines used to pump London's sewage, and are the largest rotative beam engines in the World.
I have some Trix locomotives; they run tolerably well on Hornby-Dublo, but Trix never managed to engineer their models as well as Meccano! This Trix Warship has been rewired for compatibility with the Dublo system, it's a tolerable hauler, but VERY noisy!

The Hornby Dublo diesel shunter was a late model from the period when Meccano couldn't make up their mind about using plastic! It's a reasonable model apart from a huge fixing screw, and has reasonable haulage although I could use more! In this video it's doing very well with a short train of old, metal wheeled, Dublo wagons
This is the Hornby-Dublo tank engine hauling a lengthy train of Trix Private Owner Wagons. I've gone in a bit closer here so something of the detail of the Trix wagons can be seen; more of the train itself can be seen in my other video of the R1
This tugboat is over 100 years old, and had a long working life with the Avonmouth Docks. It is now preserved at the Bristol Floating Harbour, but is steamed once a month. This is the engine, still going strong!
Another view of the triple expansion water pump at Kempton (London). This engine worked for 57 years pumping water for London. It's now preserved in its original building and it is steamed once a month.
'Silver King' replaced the original 'Sir Nigel Gresley' in the 1950's and continued until 1959 or 1960. It's hauling the short-lived LNER coaches which had printed window representations rather than perspex. It's a serviceable locomotive, very reliable, but lacks the detailed valve gear of some of the other Dublo engines.
