This is my instrumental cover of Needle in the Hay by Elliott Smith
I guess I failed to mention this earlier:
This is a cover of the live electric version that he performed on his 2001 tour. This is NOT a cover of the acoustic guitar version found on his self-titled album. Just so everyone is clear on that before posting how much this song doesn't work on the piano.
I worked this song out by ear listening to the Death Cab version and playing along with it with headphones on for a few weeks. Took a lot of takes to get it right, this was my best version yet
Andrew Bird playing imitosis live at Alverno College on 4/21/07 in Milwaukee. Taken with a Kodak camera, it was kinda hard to hold it steady. I had 3rd row center for this video.
On the 4/21/07 show at Alverno College in Milwaukee, Andrew Bird played a clip from Dr. Stringz, He only played about 2 minutes of the song, I got about 2/3 of the song recorded here
Andrew Bird live at Alverno college in milwaukee on 4/21/07. This is only a short clip of the song, where in the middle of it, he forgot his lyrics, and a person in the ground yelled out "watch a papillon parade". I wish I got this on film.
Live on 04/18/08 at the Pabst Theater in Milwaukee, WI
I love the conclusion of throwing the roses into the audience, which they were doing the entire night.
