Feb. 22 - At ten weeks of age, little polar bear "Flocke" (Snowflake) is starting to grow into the the predator she was born to be. Zoo keepers looking after her stated the 16-pound bear was trying to shred everything in reach, using her teeth and claws.

On April 12 2008 I visited Flocke in Nuremberg Tiergarten and she is really a cutie! It was fascinating and made me a bit sentimental to see once again a "polar bear baby craziness" one year after Knut was so little!

Jan. 18 - Just call me "Flocke". The baby polar bear at Nuremberg Zoo finally gets her name.
"Flocke" means flake, as in snowflake, in German. Over 25 000 fans in Germany and as far away as Brazil and New Zealand sent in name suggestions to the zoo. Little Flocke is just 6 weeks old and is now being hand-reared by zoo keepers after they separated her from her mother.
