Thanks to Rustyfan for this great capture. In 1960 Daytona Superspeedway hosted this sportsman race. 68 cars entered into the race, back then there were a maximum of 68 cars in a superspeedway race. Coming out of turn four 37 cars get into a massive wreck where at least six cars get on their roofs. Amazingly, evryone walked away from this.
Thanks to md4499 for this capture. A scary crash entering the tri-oval that sent Neil Bonnet flipping over into the catch fence. This was Neil's first race since he was seriously injured at Darlington three years earlier, and any kind of head trama could have killed him. He was lucky to walk away alive. Call by Ned Jarret and Ken Squier.
In the first NASCAR race using restrictor plates, Richard "The King" Petty Gets turned and flips wildly off turn four at the Daytona International Speedway. This is not my cap, but thanks to whoever did cap this.
Ricky Rudd gets sideways exiting turn 4 at daytona in the 1984 busch clash and starts to fly. He tumbles several time violently twards pit road and finally stops in the infeild grass. He recieved two black eyes yet started the Daytona 500. He literally tapped his eyes opened and some how managed a seventh place finnish.
The big one strikes entering turn 3 at Daytona when Dale Jarrett gets loose, collects others, then flips twice. Call by Mike Joy , Ned Jarrett, and Buddy Baker. Uknown capper, sorry
Thanks to ap0c who captured this. A massive 30 car wreck on the backstretch that started when Shane Hmeil got into Scott Riggs who then got into Johnny Sauter who then started to flip. Red flag was displayed for 40 minutes while NASCAR cleaned up the track. Call by Mike Joy, Larry McReynolds, and Darrell Waltrip
Thanks to wild turnip for this cap. Sterlling Marlin gets tapped from behind, turns into Dale Earnhardt, and sends Sr. head on into the tri-oval wall. Earnhardt flips onto his side where his roof is then nailed hard. He was injured in this crash to the point he coulnt race the next week.
A large crash entering the tri-oval that started when Mike Wallace gets loose and collects many more cars. Call by Mike Joy, Larry McReynolds, and Darrell Waltrip. Thanks to ap0c for this capture.
In classic Daytona form, a great finish to the end of the Great American Race. On one side you have Dale Earnhardt, the veteran gunning for his sixth Winston Cup title. On the other there is Dale Jarrett, a strugling driver with only one victory under his belt. The two battle it out for two laps until Jarrett (with his father calling the race from the booth) take his first of three Daytona 500s
Thanks to TBK for this one. DW takes a wild ride in the summer race at Daytona after making contact with Joe Ruttman. Waltrip then flipped viciously 7-8 times.
In one of the qualifying races for the Daytona 500, Rusty gets tapped from behind. While spinning onto the backstretch grass, air gets under the car and sends it tumbling wildly before coming to a stop on its wheels.
A massive crash in turn one at Talladega during the busch race that started when Ken Schrader got tunrned around, another pack of cars scrambled to advoid him. Call by Jerry Punch, Benny Parsons, and Kyle Petty. Very special thanks to gabor for this cap.
Thanks to ap0c for this capture. 20 cars are taken out as Kyle Petty got out of the draft and the rest of the field shuffled to try to avoid him. Call by Mike Joy, Larry McReynolds, and Darrell Waltrip
The craziness only intensifies in the final laps. Big wrecks, angry drivers, and a photo finish to top it off, Carl Edwards almost wrecked Dale Jarrett on the back straightaway. That is why the two traded blows. Kasey Kahne also cut a right front tire which destroyed his fender. Due to time constraints, I had to cut these out.
With two laps to go in the season opener for IROC in 2001, Eddie Cheever make an extremely aggressive move for the lead that put Dale Earnhardt Sr. in the turn 1 grass. Earnhardt some how maintained car control to finish seventh. Meanwhile there was an amazing 5-car battle for the lead where the margin of victory was a mere fourteen one-thousands of a second.
