One of the largest PNG Taipans I've seen. It's at least 7 feet long (2.1M)fast, agile, long fangs, and one of the most potent venoms in the venomous snake world.
This is an example of extream "Tease Feeding" Please do not attempt to piss off any large snake unless you're an experienced keeper. Darth arrived almost a year ago and has not adapted to cages life well. We've made progress but he still has not eaten since last July. Every attempt to get him to feed willingly has failed. This is the second to the last resort to get him to feed.
My Gabby & Puff Adder were due a snack this past weekend. Sometimes it's not easy to get them to take the food item. Mr. Sniffles has to add his two cents also. Nice Gabby yawn and an example of a "small fang" she shed last week.
Hail the KING! A young King Cobra CH07 from Burmese parents arrived to join my collection. Nothing like the Agro 9ft male that ran me out of his enclosure.
It's Saturday night and it's time for Gabby to move about her kingdom. See a full yawn in slow motion. See the bewildered keeper struggle to keep her from falling out her her cage when she exits unexpectedly. Hear him grunt to support her 7.5 Kilo weight.
This one will have my detractors out to badmouth how I work my snakes. He's the cluttered tabletop with Taz the juvie Polylepis out for a stroll and Kermit my very laid back Green having a feed. Both are easy compared to the "Green Meanie"
One of my favorite Elapids are Death Adders (Acanthophis sp) The species featured is A. laevis and A. rugosus from PNG/Indonesia. The have many Viperid characteristics but are Elapids. My Gabby make a guest feeding appearance.
